I’m trying to play with real people but the game developers have put bots in to play when no real people are available to play. This game should be great!! but too bad there aren’t enough real people with the game downloaded so instead of playing with real people, 90% of the time it’s bots with generic names who play the same way every time.
Now the problem of online play has been solved you can check it, and we are working on a update soon it will release on app store. Looking at the reviews I see other people are having the same problem. I don’t want to resort to finding a new mancala app. Idk if there needs to be an update or what, but please just help. which I wouldn’t have minded if the app worked after that. I’ve tried everything from updating my phone, to deleting the app all together and reinstalling which only made me lose ALL my chips which was well over 100,000. OR when it does load it only allows me to play the “online opponents like Melina Holmes, or Becky” who are CLEARLY computer players, because their moves are ALWAYS the same, and that’s just no fun at all. It either doesn’t load, force closes, or only lets me play “opponent” whom NEVER plays his turn. But for the last month or so this app has not been working for me at all. I love that you can play online and for the most part always find someone decent to play. It has always worked perfectly besides a few bugs here and there that I never minded.
For information on how to do this for the Android tablet, click here. This app has been my favorite app for at least a year now. For information on how to do this for the Apple iPad, read our step-by-step guide.
Tip: In-App Purchases do require a password before completion, but they can be completely restricted on your device, if preferred. The free version does not contain any additional rules to the original game, but does allow users to adjust the number of starting stones. Unlike other app we reviewed, this app provides users with large and clear animations indicating an extra turn or a capturing event, which ensures engaging gameplay.ĭue to the potentially complex nature of Mancala, we would recommend that users have some prior knowledge of the rules of the game. However, these were found to be of moderate speed and thus should not cause any problems. A limitation of the app is the inability to change the speed of any computer animations.
For this reason, recommend purchasing the in-app upgrade to remove all adverts. Players are able to choose between three difficulty levels as well as a wide array of background and theme options to personalize gameplay.Īdverts are present when starting or exiting and resuming a game in the free version, and cannot be easily dismissed. Although the app does not allow players to undo their moves if they have made a mistake, there is no time pressure to complete the game. The game provides a blinking avatar as a prompt for user inactivity, however this blinking is subtle and can be easily missed. Players can make use of hints (by tapping and holding the selected stones) that indicate areas where the stones can be moved to throughout the game. The board is neatly displayed and the theme can be changed to enhance contrast between the stones and the background.
Users have the choice to either play against the iPad or use the ‘Pass & Play’ feature to play against another human player. This app provides a great way for users to learn to play, by using a simple tap control method in addition to clear graphics and animations providing feedback.
It is commonly played throughout Africa and Asia with slight rule variants between different countries. Mancala is a two-player strategy game dating back to the 7th century.
